Round 2 (Match #2) Johnny Depp vs Denzel Washington

Both these guys dominated in the first round. Johnny Depp destroyed Samuel L. Jackson 6-0 and Denzel surprisingly beat Harrison Ford quite handly 7-2. Both are relatively young and have many great films under their belt. Johnny Depp has been nominated for an oscar three times but never won. He played strange off-beat character very very well. Maybe he has Tim Burton to thank for that. From 21 Jump Street to Capt. Jack Sparrow, Johnny Depp has come a long way in a relatively short time. Denzel Washington has won two academy awards and he is great at portraying real-life characters. These are two completely different actors, both bringing something different to the table. Johnny Depp is a great actor, but I think Denzel is better at what he does. This is sort of an apples and oranges kind of vote. Depp usually plays the elusive guy, but Denzel is equally effective as a protagonist and a villain. People of the younger generation will always go with Depp based on his celebrity, all the while not understanding that Denzel WAS Depp BEFORE there was Depp. I’ll go with Denzel.

I like the apples and oranges analogy. I somehow think Johnny Depp may be the better actor. But then I remember Denzel in Malcom X.
And Denzel is so beautiful.
