What is the most overrated film of all time? I have narrowed the field down to 3. Casablanca, The Godfather, and Spiderman. Disagree? Have you seen Casablanca? Running over 3 hours this movies was slow and the plot was very pointless. However people feel this was the best romantic movie of all time. Would anyone really watch this again all the way through? Is it just me who doesn’t get this film? The Godfather is a very good movie, but seriously it has to be one of the most overrated films of all time. Goodfellas, The Departed, and even Casino were just more entertaining. Again I have to stress that the length of these two films really hurt the film overall. No one wants to go through it again even if the film was good. I get that it is “cool” to like the Godfather but seriously is it really THAT good? Give me a break. Lastly Spiderman…..what a piece of crap that is. The script is horrible and the acting very sub par yet people line up to be the first ones to watch this garbage. Personally I felt the director didn’t know who he was trying to target….the kids…or the adults…..it ended up being very uneven and the overall tone left neither satisfied. If these are not the most overrated films of all time then what is???
I hear see people getting angry at Celebrities that don’t serve jail time for crimes. Or get special treatment. Like Mel Gibson, Lohan, Paris, etc. But why get angry at THEM? They are using their celebrity to their advantage. Wouldn’t you do the same? I say if your famous use it to serve as little time as possible. The one you should be angry at is the justice system! The justice system is really messed up in this country. It all comes down to whether or not you have money. Being guilty or not-guilty does not matter as much as what kind of lawyer you are able to get. Is that what the justice system has come to? Why not just keep it simple. Get 12 jurors, the defendant states his or her case, then the people state their case and the jury decides….why make it so complicated with all this legal bullcrap! Here is a thought I will leave you guys with. Their were two men accused of murder they did not commit. They were sentenced to life in prison. 12 years into their sentence, new DNA evidence proved that they did not commit the crime they were charged with. It took another 6 months to set them free because they had to process all the proper paperwork…..
Don’t get me wrong, I really liked Deniro but after watching this clip, I lost a lot of respect for him. I didn’t realize he was so smug and such a jerk. But I guess you have to be this way to make it in Hollywood. The way he looks at the director is priceless. He sure knows how to make someone feel like crap. Maybe he was having a bad day and decided to take it out on someone. However I have a strange feeling that this is how he is to “regular” people. He is DeNiro, he knows what he is doing, how dare you criticize me? Do you know who I am? Now I know how he was able to transition so well into comedy with Meet the Parents…..He was playing HIMSELF!!!

Denzel Washington (2-1)
Paul Newman Pros:He was a big time star in the 50’s and 60’s and by the 80’s he was already nominated 6 times at the Oscars winning once for best actor. Not only is he a great actor but a great humanitarian. Might have the best blue eyes in Hollywood, he uses them to his full advantage showing great intense emotions. Cons:Has not made anything great for about 20 years. He is way past his prime. Never showcased his full potential because he really didn’t hit his stride until his 40’s. Robert Duvall Pros:A very intense actor since the 60’s. A great character actor. Won many awards in acting as well as directing. Cons: Always shined in supporting roles, rarely does he drive a film by himself. Has had a hard time finding great roles. Never really became a real movie star. My Verdict
Two old timers go at it. The better actor here is clearly Robert Duvall. He has proved himself time after time and his intensity can not be matched by Newman who is cool, and charming but on a acting level does not match Duvall. Jack Nicholson Pros:For decades he has been at the top of his game. Has been nominated for 12 Academy Awards winning 3 of them. Respected by all actors, he has become a hollywood icon. The best at blending comedy and drama. Great facial expressions, much like Jim Carry but less over-the-top. Cons:Might be one of a hand full of actors who is more of a character in real life than on film. You can make an argument that he is really just playing himself. Also most of his characters seem to be the same. His range seems to have gotten limited as the years went on. Kevin Spacey Pros:Very versatile actor. Won an Oscar for best actor as well as supporting actor. Brings a sense of intelligence into his roles. ConsA bit of a streaky actor. He is either great or you don’t even notice him. Seems to only shine if his character has…issues. After winning an Oscar for American Beauty he seems to have fallen off the radar. Needs to make another film where everyone will remember him for. My Verdict
Gotta go with Jack Nicholson. Kevin Spacey is a great actor. But he needs to do a few more films where he is responsible for carrying the film. In American Beauty, it was a collaborated effort with strong supporting characters that allowed Kevin Spacey to shine. Jack can carry a film on his own. He has proved this time after time. Don’t get me wrong. Cloverfield is a good movie with a good concept. However the whole movie is shot with a hand held camera. You would think while watching the movie, wow it is sooo shaky that it will end in like 10 minutes right? They can’t do this for the entire movie can they??? They did! What made it worse was the character behind the camera was maybe the most annoying character I have seen in 10 years. The last being the kid on Jerry Maguire who I would punch in the face if I could. After watching Cloverfield I felt like I ate four poor quality hotdogs and rode The Zipper at a small carnival. My date had to leave ten minutes before it ended. I was feeling sick to and I had to choose between leaving and taking care of my date or watching the last 10 minutes of this unwatchable movie. I chose the movie….I paid 23 dollars damn it and I will get my moneys worth!!
