GOLDEN GLOBE SHOCKERS!!!!

Atonement wins best picture??? What kind of bull crap is this?? Honestly I felt that out of the nominated films this year for best picture, Atonement was by far the worst! This film is very unbelievable and tries too hard to be romantic. It grabs the love story and tries to ram it down your throat. Am I wrong on this?? Can any one really say that Atonement is better than No Country for Old Men, There Will Be Blood, American Gangster, and Michael Clayton? Maybe because these films are “guy films” and Atonement is the only “chick flick” that the votes for the previous films were canceled out. If that is the chase lets cheer for Enchanted to get nominated so it can steal some votes away from Atonement. I had no problem with the other results and felt like they got most of them right. Maybe I am hard on Atonement but you be the judge. Here is a small clip from the film.

The Other Boleyn Girl

npsj1.jpgNatalie Portman and Scarlet Johansson. This has to be the best casting job every in the history of Cinema. Both super babes. Mega babes. No…Ultra babes. Both great actors. Both young and talented.

I don’t even know what the movie is about. I know it’s a period piece and i think it’s based on a book or something. But i already know it’s gonna be awesome. Wait…i don’t want to jinx it.

Let me list four movies that i loved from both actresses.

Natalie Portman-The Professional, Beautiful girls, Closer, Garden state.

Scarlet Johannson-Lost in Translation, The prestige, Match Point, Ghost World.

Keep an eye out of this film.

He’s just not that into you

December 22nd, 2007 by thecup

notintoyou.jpgI watch a lot of standup comedy. One night i was watching comedy central and saw Greg Behrendt. He did this “i’m a crab” bit which was funny, but the rest of his act was pretty lame. A few months later, i saw him on Oprah. He wrote a book with a co writer called, He’s just not that into you. It made Oprah’s book club. Cha Ching. Now the movie by the same name is gonna come out. It stars an all star cast. Jennifer Aniston, Scarlet Johansson, Jennifer Connelley, Drew Barrymore, and the great Ben Affeck. Great cast right? Even Ben Affleck can’t hurt his movie. Well maybe. Maybe this movie will suck.

But i’m definately gonna watch it and i can’t wait to see some Johansson.

30 days is box office top

October 22nd, 2007 by thecup

30days.jpgwhat the hell. why is there such a fascination in america with vampires. seriously. anne rice vampires. from dusk to dawn. blade. underworld. i really don’t get it. is it the sexual sucking of blood that gets people packed into the theaters. the weekend had a terrible turn out. cause it was packed with adult dramas. i believe its harder this day and age cause movies don’t have a long shelf life. and also cause they are just churning out terrible movies. i blame the internet. its made everyone into a filmmaker. there is so much competition for entertainment. new shows new sites. and also you can find a way to watch something for free on the internet. i don’t buy dvds anymore cause its not worth it. just download it somewhere for free. (so i’ve heard)

anyway just me ranting

Tyler Perry in drag again?

October 14th, 2007 by sean

martin.jpgTyler Perry’s “Why Did I Get Married?” sold $21.5 million worth of tickets this past weekend. Unfreakin believable. It beat out movies like “Michael Clayton” and “We own the Night”

Isn’t this movie a boring version of “The Best Man” starring Taye Diggs? I really don’t get it.

“Michael Clayton” took in 11 million dollars. George C is at his best in this legal drama. Its an adult film that will not disappoint. For people who love solid acting and strong script.

ASIDE

Rant

I really don’t get it. How many time do we have to watch a black comedian in drag as a big fat black woman until it doesn’t get funny anymore. I mean seriously you guys. well at least Tyler Perry isn’t in drag in this one. Still won’t watch this one. I’ll make John watch it.

I understand that most people don’t appreciate Cinematic Art. It pains me to see movie trailers about these lame-tired out stories again. Attention Studios…!!! Lets hire some screenwriters instead of dressing our black comedians in floral one pieces.

Thank you and Good night

post script

At Least Eddie Murphey was semi-funny in his constumes.

FYI (Coming to America)
