Amelie

December 31st, 2007 by thecup

audrey.jpgAudrey Tautou has to be the cutest actress in the world. Take Meg Ryan, mix in some brunette action, add acting skills, and a double shot of cute and you have Audrey. Amelie is probably one of my all time favorite movies. It didn’t make my top ten list but it’s definitely up in my top 30 or so. This movie is good for watching over and over again. Visually, it has some of the most beautiful frames and colors in cinema. The writing works fast with an engaging plot. The characters are interesting and completely lovable. Audrey was great in Dirty Pretty Things too. She shouldn’t have agreed to star in the trainwreck, Di Vinci Code, but who could have guess it was going to suck so bad. There a movie called Happenstance, that she also stars in. It’s one of her earlier works, but if you enjoyed Amelie, you’ll like Happenstance.

I wish i knew how to speak French. If i made a list of my favorite actresses, she’s would most definitely be in my top 5. It would be a toss up between Scarlet, Rosario, Natalie, Audrey, and Knightly.

I can’t wait until she makes another movie.

If Lucy Fell

December 31st, 2007 by thecup

iflucyfell.jpgThis is a hard to find film. I’ve tried to rent it several times but failed. I saw this movie when i was in high school and i remember thinking how funny one of the characters was. Back then Ben Stiller was a no name actor. He just had a small role in this movie, but it was hilarious. He played this weird artist named Bwick who was in love with Sex in the City’s Sarah Jessica Parker. DOn’t remember much about the movies except that Elle Mcpherson also stars in the movie. Also it has something to do with a deadline of finding the love of your life. Pretty cheesy but i have to give it a thumbs up cause of Stiller’s character.

Say Anything

December 31st, 2007 by thecup

say-anything.jpgSay Anything is one of the best movies to come out of the 80s. Lloyd Dobbler is a character that is real and noble. The movie is really smart and the story is very touching. It was different from the teen movies to come out of that era. It was more realistic. It was genuine. One of the most famous scenes in Cinema history came out of this flick. Dobbler holding the huge stereo over his head blasting Peter Gabriel’s In your eyes. Magic.

Ione Skye was absolutely beautiful in this movie. Kinda surprised that her career didn’t really take off after Say Anything. She was the girl i always wanted and Lloyd dobbler is the guys i always wanted to be.

School of Rock

December 31st, 2007 by thecup

sor.jpgJack Black is at his best in this musical movie. The movie is about a loser rocker who start substitute teaching at a private school for some rent money. He then discovers a bunch of talented youngin to fulfill his rock dreams. The movie let’s Jack Black do what he doest best. He can rock on and make funny faces with a full blast of energy. Jack Black is the only star of this movie, but it did great at the box office. Goes to show that if you have a great star, great script, and great director, you can make it big at the box office. The director is Richard Linklater(Before Sunrise/Before Sunset).

I loved that they hired musician instead of child actors. Made the film more real and genuine. It gave the movie soul. If it was a bunch of annoying kid actors running around, it wouldn’t have the heart that it does. This movie rocks and it’s a must have DVD for any collection.

The Holiday

December 28th, 2007 by thecup

theholiday.jpgDidn’t do that well at the Box office. Didn’t get much respect from critics either. I honestly don’t know why. I think this was a delightful romantic comedy. Maybe cause i wasn’t expecting much when i saw it in the theatre. When i saw the trailer, i was annoyed that Jack Black was going to play the love interest of Kate Winslet. Like that’ll ever happen in real life….And i thought he was going to be classic Jack Black. Didn’t think it would work. But surprisingly, Black wasn’t that annoying and the characters were very charming. Winslet is always good in her movies. Judd Law is a total pimp. Cameron plays the spoiled brat perfectly and Jack Black isn’t annoying. What more could you ask for in a Christmas romantic comedy.

Favorite scene- When Cameron and Judd lay together with Judd’s kids in the tent. Scene is warm and fuzzy. The younger daughter is amazingly cute. She’s so adorable.

Thumbs up

In Her Shoes

December 28th, 2007 by thecup

inhershoes.jpgWhen i first saw this movie, i didn’t that much for it. Not particular a fan of Cameron Diaz or Toni Collette but it was on cable so i watched it. I watched it again recently and was moved by the story. In Her Shoes is a classic chick flick. It has all the elements. Sisterly love. Shoes. Bad jokes.

Most guys probably won’t like or will never watch this movie. It’s a shame really cause it actually is a pretty good film. Maybe it would have done better if they changed the casting. The underdog in this movies, is Cameron Diaz. Not a wise choice to cast Cameron, dance around in her underwear, Diaz as an underdog. She’s too Charlie’s Angels to be able to pull this off.

I have a rule. You can’t judge a really judge a movie until you’ve seen it twice all the way through. Seems like it’s a valid rule cause the second time around, i enjoyed this flick. If i based my judgment on my first viewing, i wouldn’t realize how good this movie was.

Thumbs up if you’re a girl or a fem guy.

tickets tickets tickets

December 25th, 2007 by thecup

formula1.jpgThis is a movie site so obviously tickets are kinda important. Movies on openning day is usually jam packed and sometimes you can’t get the tickets. If this type of stuff happens with movies, imagine other major events. When you can’t seem to find tickets for events like formula 1, golf, and tennis, you can look to viagogo.co.uk for help. They have a wide variety of tickets for all of your entertainment needs. Don’t be left out of the big show, go to viagogo and get some tickets to hard to get into events. Let me spend sometime talking about that site. They have a really clean and easy to use interface. The load time is really fast and the look of the site is top notch. They have useful information and in mins, you will be able to find what you’re looking for.

This is a paid review but it doesn’t not affect how i write this post. I like the site. It’s a European site so it will be most useful for people in Europe. People outside of Europe can still find a lot of useful information there. It doesn’t hurt to check out the site right? Go over to Viagogo dot co dot uk and find Formula 1 Tickets, Golf Tickets, and Tennis Tickets.

Paul Rudd

December 25th, 2007 by thecup

paulrudd.jpgI remember thinking that he was pretty cool in Clueless. He made a few bad career choices(The Object of my Affection) but he’s definitely bounced back with the new geek pack. He’s been in every Apatow film and he’s always been great in them. Who knew he had such comedic talent. He’s good looking but at the same time, looks very normal and approachable. I think that’s part of his appeal. Paul Rudd is a perfect example reinventing your image. It’s never too late to move your career into another direction. Romantic comedies weren’t working for him, so he switched to adult comedies and made a killing. Good job Paul. You can see him next in Walk Hard, the spoof comedy.
